Our story at Chandler Material Supplies started in a very practical, hands-on way. Before we became a dedicated builders’ merchant, we were building and developing properties across Chelmsford. We weren’t just supplying projects — we were running them ourselves, sourcing materials and using them directly on the sites we were actively working on.

How we’e got to where we are today

The location of our Chelmsford branch, where we are based today, originally played a key role in those early developments. It wasn’t a shop or a merchant at the time — it was our storehouse. This was where we kept the materials needed for our building projects, making it a central hub for everything we were using on site across Chelmsford.

As our work expanded, so did the demand from other local trades and builders who saw the quality of the materials we were using. It wasn’t long before we began supplying materials more widely, not just for our own projects but for other builders and customers across the area.
